6. Check for leaks — look under the car for fresh drips or stains.

7. Engine noise — listen for grinding, knocking, or ticking when the engine starts cold.

8. Suspension — bounce each corner. It should bounce once and stop, not bounce repeatedly.

9. Brakes — test them gently, then harder. They should feel firm and pull straight.

10. MOT history — check the MOT website for advisories and past failures.
